Melissa Peterson, CNM
​
Melissa grew up in La Verne, California, a small town in Los Angeles County. Due to her studies, Melissa has also lived in the Midwest and the South.
Melissa attained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). While at SIUE, Melissa minored in Women’s Studies where she discovered her interest in midwifery. Initially, Melissa pursued a career in medical research, participating in an endometrial cancer research project at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and then studied Neuroscience at California State University Los Angeles. Although Melissa thoroughly enjoyed research, she realized that patient based care was where she was most passionate.
Melissa attended Vanderbilt University where she attained her Master of Science degree in Nursing, while focusing in Nurse-Midwifery. Her previous clinical experiences included Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and Fort Bragg’s Womack Army Medical Center.
