Brooklyn Elkan, CNM

Brooklyn was born in Michigan and has been fortunate to live in California, Colorado, Minnesota, and Arizona. She worked her way through medicine by becoming a Paramedic, an RN, and now a board certified Nurse-Midwife.

Her background in emergency medicine helps her to stay calm when caring for women as their birth stories unfold.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

My husband and I are avid travelers and are now teaching our children our love for the world. As of right now my bucket list place is Ireland.

I want to see where my grandmother is from.

Are you a morning or night person?

Night. Always have been. Works out well since a lot of babies are born at night!

What is your favorite food?

This answer is ever changing. I LOVE cooking, eating, and sharing those loves with others.

I love throwing dinner parties and I ALWAYS try new things. My favorite protein is scallops, and my favorite vegetable is artichokes.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

My family loves to love. We sing, we listen, we eat/feed one another but most importantly we just love to be with one another. My son was #50, yes, we all have numbers! He's also the 5th great-grandchild. We are all unique, but all have a space to be ourselves and find love with one another. We also have a ton of family songs!

What do you value most in a friend?

I value honesty most in friendship. I believe honesty is a sign of trust. When you trust someone enough to be honest you can bare your soul and be accepted.

It is one of the most beautiful things.
